The static discharge palm plate uses a palm-contact surface with a grounding cord. It is a different contact format to compare with a standing discharge pole when planning an approved work-area procedure.
Identify the mounting position and compatible connection. Confirm the supplied plate, backing and cord arrangement, and follow the actual operating instructions rather than assuming that any convenient surface can be used as the grounding point.

Defining the contact and connection procedure
A static-discharge arrangement needs a defined contact format, installation position and compatible connection. Placement should allow the intended operation without creating an obstruction. Identify the approved local procedure before specifying a pole, stand, plate or other device.
- Describe the installation position and the people or process using the device.
- Confirm contact surfaces, dimensions, connection requirements and supplied parts.
- Obtain the operating and verification instructions for the exact supplied model.
Use, care and replacement considerations
Keep the confirmed installation and device information with the area procedure. Inspect physical condition and connections as required by the product instructions. If a device is moved or replaced, review the complete arrangement and required checks rather than assuming that a similar shape provides an identical function.

Questions about static discharge palm plate with cord
Does touching a discharge point replace ongoing personnel grounding?
A discharge point is a defined contact station. It should not be presented as a substitute for the grounding method specified while handling ESD-sensitive items. Confirm the intended procedure with the facility's ESD coordinator.
Can different discharge-device formats be substituted directly?
Compare the supplied construction, contact method, connection and operating procedure. A palm plate, stand and pole use different physical arrangements, while a verifier may provide additional indications. Confirm the exact required function before substituting one format for another.
